On 23 October 2026, 38 coordinated raids across Assam, Mizoram and Manipur dismantled an international narco‑cartel.
The operation led to the arrest of 18 suspects and the seizure of 500 detonators, ₹12 lakh in cash, and properties worth ₹17.82 crore.
Investigators also uncovered nearly ₹100 crore in hawala transactions and froze 1,424 bank accounts linked to the cartel.
The network had been trafficking drugs across the borders of India, Myanmar and Bangladesh via the Death Triangle Corridor, a route long used by traffickers.
Union Home Minister Amit Shah, who posted the operation’s success on X, called it a ‘lethal blow’ and reiterated the government’s pledge to eradicate drug networks by 31 December 2029.
Suspects have been remanded in custody and will face trial under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act as the anti‑drug campaign expands nationwide.
