FLDI and AILDF said they are not joining the strike called by the splinter group LDAI, insisting that the distributors’ concerns be settled through dialogue. The strike was announced for October 26 in Delhi; the federations maintain that the commission paid on LPG sales has remained flat for five years, despite rising costs.
At a meeting on October 21 at the Indian Oil Corporation headquarters in Mumbai, senior officials from IIL, BPCL, and HPCL met with the federations. They discussed a commission revision, pressure to sell non‑fuel products, and protection against changes to refill indents. Both sides agreed to submit an interim proposal to the ministry by year‑end.
AILDF’s spokesperson highlighted that since March 2026 the federation has met with marketing directors of the three PSU companies, pushing for an interim commission increase and written standard operating procedures. FLDI added that it will continue these discussions until a resolution is reached.
The All India HP Gas Distributors Association echoed the call for dialogue, noting that digital reforms have improved transparency but that refill sales are falling while expenses rise. They cited rising operational costs and unpaid work as key concerns.
Rajesh Kumar, a distributor in Delhi, said a commission hike could ease the cash crunch he faces after the recent spike in LPG prices. Negotiations will resume on November 5, 2026, with a possible interim commission increase announced by the ministry.
