The Indian Express on Wednesday disclosed that Election Commissioners Sukhbir Singh Sandhu and Vivek Joshi had lodged 14 objections over a ten‑month period concerning the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls.
Those objections centred on the rapid centralisation of the ERONet database, unilateral modifications to Form 6, and the deletion of voter entries during the SIR.
Election Commission officials said the queries were routine and that all decisive actions were unanimous and legally sanctioned.
Today, Rahul Gandhi addressed a press conference, labelled Gyanesh Kumar a traitor, demanded his resignation and warned Congress would not be silent.
The leader of the Cockroach Janata Party also demanded the chief step down within 48 hours, threatening nationwide agitation.
The Election Commission will convene a meeting next week to address the accusations, while opposition parties have set a 48‑hour deadline for the chief’s resignation.
