Sambhav Jain, a 28‑year‑old software engineer from Manesar, Gurugram, leapt from the 43rd floor of the Supernova Spira highrise in Noida on Saturday, according to Sector 126 police.
He had been drowning in a debt that eclipsed ₹40 lakh, faced an alimony claim of ₹1 crore that had only been half‑paid, and shouldered a treatment bill for his prematurely born baby that exceeded ₹40 lakh. His weight—around 140 kg—added to severe body‑image anxiety, while family tensions and mental stress compounded his despair.
Police say he tried to convince a passerby to step back before hanging from the balcony railing and plunging; investigators are combing through CCTV footage and his last digital exchanges, with Sumnesh Kumar, Station House Officer, noting the recorded calls to his father.
A local resident, Rajiv Chandra, recalled hearing cries of distress early in the morning and saw Jain pacing the lobby before the fall. The police have seized his phone, and families are urged to reach out to helplines such as the Vandrevala Foundation and TISS iCall for support.
