A video that spread across social media on September 19 shows a group of men assaulting a 15‑year‑old girl and her friend as they left a coaching centre in Jamui.
The footage, posted by an eyewitness, shows the boy trying to pull the girl free while Nandan Yadav, the alleged ringleader, grabs her by the neck and drags her away.
Deputy Chief Minister Vijay Kumar Chaudhary called the incident "shameful" and vowed that no accused would be spared. "The state will take the strictest action against those who perpetrate such acts," he said.
SP Vishwajeet Dayal warned that revealing the victim’s identity could lead to charges under the POCSO Act, IT Act, and Juvenile Justice Act, and that such leaks are a serious offence.
Police are continuing the probe and will file charges against the remaining suspects; the accused is currently in a hospital under police custody.
