Federal agents in Ohio seized online accounts linked to the 39‑year‑old Indian national, Vimalesh Prem Kumar, after cyber tips revealed his use of Instagram, Twitter and Telegram to view and download child pornography.\n
\nCharges allege that Kumar accessed the material with intent to view, a federal crime punishable by up to 10 years, and that he uploaded images of a young girl next to a teddy bear and another in sheer lingerie to Telegram.\n
\nHSI Detroit acting Special Agent Jeremy Pierczynski said investigators used every tool available to track the predator, stressing that working in the U.S. as a foreign national is a privilege that comes with full accountability.\n
\nDominick S. Gerace II, U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of Ohio, and Assistant U.S. Attorney Kyle J. Healey will prosecute the case, underscoring the federal commitment to combat child exploitation.\n
\nThe case falls under the Department of Justice’s Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative launched in 2006 to marshal federal, state and local resources to locate, apprehend and prosecute online predators.\n
\nKumar’s trial is scheduled for September, with a potential sentencing hearing following a conviction, while the DOJ continues to pursue additional victims under the same investigation.
