On 15 November, Ahmedabad Cyber Crime Police lodged an FIR after tracing a fraudulent scheme that sold counterfeit Navratri event passes.
Fraudsters set up a fake Instagram account veer.rajjputtt and used a mobile number ending in 808 to masquerade as Anant Brahmand Garba organisers.
The scam promised discounts on passes that normally cost ₹4,000 to ₹10,000, luring victims into transferring money to shell accounts while receiving counterfeit QR codes and email confirmations.
Victims spotted the fraud when regular customers cross‑checked offers with the real organisers, prompting a complaint from a 41‑year‑old manager of a private firm.
The police are charging the suspects under sections of the Indian Penal Code and the Information Technology Act, and have urged the public to buy tickets only through official channels and to report suspicious activity on helpline 1930.
