Pargat Singh said the party must first rebuild the “Punjab brand” by tightening policing and accelerating agricultural diversification—“we need a short‑term fix and long‑term reform.”
During his brief stint as Punjab’s Education Minister, he blamed the mismatch between industry needs and the skills of 18‑21‑year‑olds, noting that “curriculum needs redesign” to match present‑day job markets.
Addressing the drug epidemic, Singh linked the problem to “lack of physical activity, emotional isolation and a failure to channel youth energy.” He championed a sports‑based strategy, urging continuity from school to elite levels and better coaching infrastructure.
On intra‑party dynamics, he defended open debate, stressing that “vocal disagreement is a democracy, not disunity,” while warning against the “trolling, reels, jokes and personal taunts” that have become the new political norm.
The Congress leadership will convene a provincial conference in September to lay out a roadmap for the 2027 elections, with Singh set to present the party’s new issue‑centric platform.
