In a ceremony held at a local wedding hall in Punjab, Amarinder Singh Mandofal, joint secretary of the Aam Aadmi Party, wed Manwinder Kaur on a February 2026 night. The gathering was attended by high‑ranking party officials, including Assembly Speaker Kultar Singh Sandhwan and Cabinet Minister Tarunpreet Singh Saundh, who posed for photographs and danced bhangra with the couple.
Mandofal, a Zila Parishad member and Market Committee Sirhind chairman, later claimed that Kaur had masqueraded as a PCS officer, had falsified her age, and was already divorced with an 18‑year‑old son. He said he discovered the deception after the wedding when he received a letter from the woman’s family stating she was unmarried.
Police opened an FIR on 18 March 2026 for cheating and forgery, naming six accused, including Manwinder Kaur, her brother Tarlochan Singh, mother Varinderjit Kaur, cousin Narinder Singh Goldy, sister‑in‑law Rupinder Kaur and former village sarpanch Surinder Singh Rana. All are residents of the village Sur Singh under Bhikhiwind police station in Tarn Taran district.
The case is under investigation by the district police, who are attempting to locate the accused. Party officials have pledged to cooperate with authorities and review security protocols for future events.
