Preeti, an 18-year-old first-year student at Firozabad College of Nursing, was found dead near Mauda Kaneta village in Uttar Pradesh’s Firozabad district. Circle Officer Tejas Tripathi confirmed the incident, noting that hostel-mates discovered her missing from the mess on Wednesday morning. A subsequent search of her room turned up nothing, prompting a police investigation that traced her movements via CCTV footage. The video showed Preeti scaling the college boundary wall and leaving the premises alone at approximately 2:30 am.
The family’s accusations are specific and severe. Her brother, Rohit, named college principal Suresh Daksh and his son, Yash, as the killers. Following the post-mortem, the family staged a road blockade at the district headquarters. Police managed to persuade them to lift the protest and transport the body to her home in Mainpuri district. However, the tension remains high, with the family demanding justice for what they claim is a premeditated act by the college leadership.
Police have formally registered a case under Section 103(1) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, which deals with murder, along with other relevant provisions. This legal step follows the family’s direct complaint against Daksh and his son. The investigation is currently focused on establishing the motive behind Preeti’s disappearance and subsequent death. Authorities are reviewing the timeline from her last sighting at the college to the discovery of her body.
The next critical step in this case lies with the forensic team and the investigating officers in Firozabad. They must corroborate the family’s claims against the physical evidence and digital records. Meanwhile, the community in Mainpuri and Firozabad awaits the initial charge sheet, which will determine whether Suresh Daksh and Yash face formal arrest warrants.
