HCLTech shares leapt 5.74% to ₹1,290 on Tuesday, the biggest move on Dalal Street after the company’s Q4 filing a day earlier.
The filing revealed a Q4 earnings beat and sharper margins, sparking a rally among tech‑heavy stocks. Analysts had expected a modest rise, but HCLTech exceeded forecasts.
TCS followed suit, climbing 5.07% to ₹2,234.80 after announcing a 15% jump in net profit for the quarter.
The rally lifted the BSE Focused IT index by 3.04% to 35,366.87, and the Nifty IT index by 3.12% to 29,235.25. The broader market mirrored the upbeat tone, with the BSE Sensex up 466.15 points to 72,390.83 and the Nifty 50 up 145.30 points to 22,508.65.
Dharmesh Kant, head of equity research at Cholamandalam Securities, said the quarterly numbers from Accenture, TCS and HCLTech suggest the worst of earnings‑growth concerns may be behind the IT sector. Analysts expect the momentum to continue into the next quarter as investors eye upcoming Q2 earnings releases and potential guidance from the industry giants.
