Mohammed Tahir Ali is lying in a bed at Medicover Hospital in Vikarabad, still processing the near-death experience from early Sunday. He had just returned from a social function when he stepped onto the main road near Halwais, close to Janata Bookstore. The car didn't just hit him; it spun. Tahir describes seeing one vehicle pass at high speed, then another swerving violently from the side, knocking him to the ground before the driver even realized the impact.
CCTV footage from the scene captures the chaos in stark, unedited detail. The vehicle drifts across the lane, clips Tahir as he tries to move aside, and continues rolling until it stops. For a moment, the four occupants stand outside the car, looking confused, seemingly unaware they have just injured a pedestrian. Two of them rush back to check on Tahir, but the group quickly exits the scene, leaving the victim to recover on his own until bystanders intervened.
Auto-rickshaw drivers and other motorists who witnessed the crash alerted the local police. The authorities intercepted the vehicle and detained all four occupants. Tahir, who managed to stand up despite his injuries, confronted the driver about his reckless maneuvers before the police took control of the situation. The driver did not stop immediately after the collision, a detail Tahir emphasized in his initial statements to investigators.
A case has been registered at the local police station. The investigation will now focus on the speed of the vehicle and the road safety violations by the occupants. Tahir remains under observation, while the detained individuals are in custody awaiting legal proceedings.
