Joe finished his undergraduate degree at Louisiana State University with a double major in biochemistry and economics, graduating with honors in May.
He earned a 1,590 SAT score at age ten, and a high school diploma at eleven, making him the youngest to achieve those milestones in the state.
The admission committee, led by NYU Dean of Graduate Studies Dr. Maya Patel, praised his ‘exceptional analytical skills and maturity’ in a statement.
Joe, who has been diagnosed with Tourette syndrome since childhood, said the experience taught him resilience.
His mother, Anne Petraro-Hyppolite, described his journey as ‘surreal’ and said, ‘He just loves to learn; he’s a sponge.’
Joe plans to study sports management, kinesiology and biology at NYU, and eventually pursue paleontology.
