The 10th India Mobile Congress, held from Oct. 7 to 10 in New Delhi, attracted telecom operators, industry leaders and international guests, offering a platform to showcase India’s progress in digital connectivity.
The event’s theme, ‘Scale Without Boundaries’, reflects the government’s ambition to extend telecom infrastructure beyond speed and spectrum to governance impact.
During his address, PM Modi emphasised that mobile phones have evolved from simple communication tools to essential instruments for delivering public services.
He pointed to the 5.5 lakh 5G base stations now operational across the country, a rise that translates into a ten‑fold increase in mobile internet speed since 2022—an achievement that reaches every district.
Modi recalled the pandemic’s digital resilience, noting that banks, schools and offices continued functioning even when other parts of the world faced lockdowns.
The Prime Minister also highlighted the Digital India programme, which has positioned mobile access at the core of expanding digital services, thereby narrowing the digital divide.
In the days ahead, the government will present a draft telecom policy at its next parliamentary session in December.
