At a press conference in Bhopal, Shivraj Singh Chouhan slammed the Congress party for its “blind” stance toward Prime Minister Narendra Modi, saying the party had lost its ability to think, understand and listen.
The comments came after Mallikarjun Kharge, the Congress president, sparked controversy on Sunday during the 139th birth‑anniversary celebration of Bihar’s first chief minister, Krishna Singh, in Patna.
When a crowd member shouted that Modi would not go anywhere, Kharge retorted, “Modi ka baap bhi jayega… Chal,” a remark that Chouhan used to illustrate the Congress’s ‘corrupted’ rhetoric.
Chouhan also warned that such language could be the final nail in the coffin of the party’s decline, a claim that echoes the Congress’s own protests demanding the withdrawal of the Special Intensive Revision of electoral rolls and the removal of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar.
Ahead of a November 1 rally at Delhi’s Ramlila Maidan, the INDIA bloc plans to pressure the government for the CEC’s resignation, while traders have urged the Congress to postpone the event until after Diwali to safeguard business activity.
The Union Minister concluded that the Congress’s focus on political interests at the expense of national welfare could undermine public trust, and he called on party leaders to reassess their strategy before the upcoming electoral cycle.
