Musk took to X on Thursday, posting a trio of policy changes he believes Democrats would pursue if they took control of all three branches.
First, he cited proposals to grant Washington‑DC and Puerto‑Rico statehood, a move that would give Democrats a Senate supermajority. Next, he warned that legalising undocumented immigrants would cement a permanent majority. Finally, he feared an expansion of the Supreme Court beyond its current nine seats.
The billionaire’s investment in the race is staggering: The Washington Post reported that Musk has funneled roughly $446 million into Republican‑leaning PACs, including the Senate Leadership Fund and his own America PAC.
Republicans currently hold a 53‑47 advantage in the Senate and a slim majority in the House, but polling shows Democrats ahead on the generic ballot: a Reuters/Ipsos survey found 53% of likely voters favor Democrats versus 44% for Republicans.
The November 3 mid‑term will decide whether that balance shifts, with election night projections expected to be released at 7 a.m. on November 4. The outcome will dictate the Senate’s composition for the 2027‑28 session, setting the stage for the 2028 presidential race.
