Tushar Kumar, 23, who rose from student politics at King's College London to become mayor of Elstree and Borehamwood, will take the stage at the NDTV World Summit 2026.
After moving to Britain at age ten, Kumar pursued political science at King's College London, where he credits the Civic Leadership Academy for sharpening his public‑speaking skills.
In 2023, he secured a seat on the town council as a Labour member, then was elected mayor in 2026, a position that has attracted attention from the British media.
His mother, Parveen Rani, the former mayor of Hertsmere Borough Council, will join him for a session titled “The Diaspora Impact—From Rohtak to Mayors in the UK,” underscoring the family’s cross‑border political legacy.
The NDTV World Summit, scheduled for October 22‑23 in New Delhi, will feature leaders and technologists discussing global issues under the theme “A World Between Orders,” with Kumar’s address expected to highlight diaspora leadership. The summit will be streamed live, reaching audiences across India and the UK.
