Lal Krishna Advani, the 98‑year‑old BJP stalwart, was rushed to Indraprastha Apollo Hospital in Delhi at about 7:30 p.m. Friday after developing a chest infection.
Hospital officials said he was admitted to the pulmonary department and is currently under observation by a team of doctors.
This is the third time the veteran has been hospitalised this year; he was admitted in May for age‑related complications and in December to the ICU for investigations.
Advani, who served as Deputy Prime Minister from 2002 to 2004 and is a Bharat Ratna awardee, has long been a pillar of the BJP's growth.
The medical team reports his condition remains stable, and he may be shifted out of the ICU or discharged within the next day or two.
Family members, who have been with him during his last hospitalization, expressed gratitude for the care received.
