The Enforcement Directorate (ED) had already filed a PMLA case last month after the Kerala Vigilance and Anti‑Corruption Bureau registered two FIRs against Vijayan and his relatives for alleged bribery tied to a CMRL construction contract.
The PMLA filing cites a Rs 2.78 crore transfer to Veena Vijayan’s now‑defunct company Exalogic Solutions, allegedly disguised as IT consultancy services for CMRL.
The Kerala High Court, on 9 October, directed the VACB to register a case based on an ED report, prompting the central agency to seek case registration and conduct searches under the law.
Vijayan, 81, has filed a petition with the Supreme Court contesting the High Court order, arguing that the summons violate his rights.
The summons will take place on 23 October at the ED office in Kochi, where the former chief minister is expected to testify before investigators.
If the Supreme Court upholds the High Court directive, the case could proceed to a full trial, potentially affecting Vijayan’s political legacy and the state’s ongoing infrastructure projects.
