With Porsche’s first fully electric Cayenne rolling off the assembly line in India, buyers now have an all‑electric alternative to the petrol model. The new variant starts at ₹1.77 crore ex‑showroom and can travel up to 642 km on a single charge under WLTP.
Under the hood, both Cayenne Electric trims share a 113‑kWh battery and dual all‑wheel‑drive motors. The base model churns out 408 hp and 835 Nm of torque, reaching 100 km/h in 4.8 seconds, while the Turbo version explodes to 1,156 hp and 1,150 Nm, doing the same in 2.5 seconds. Top speed caps at 230 km/h and 260 km/h respectively. An 800‑volt architecture lets the car accept up to 390 kW DC power, so a 10–80 % charge takes roughly 16 minutes at an ideal station.
Charging at home is also a breeze – a standard 11 kW AC wallbox will top the battery in under three hours, and an optional 22 kW charger cuts that to around 1.5 hours. Porsche even offers the first wireless charging kit in the brand’s lineup, a novelty that could reduce cable clutter for owners who already own a compatible home charger.
Regenerative braking can recover up to 600 kW, allowing the electric motors to handle up to 97 % of the braking force and sparing the brakes from wear. Practical space comes in a 781‑litre boot, expanding to 1,588 litres with the rear seats folded. Towing capacity is 3,000 kg standard, rising to 3,500 kg with the optional Off‑Road package that also gives a 500 mm wading depth.
Porsche backs the battery with an eight‑year/160,000‑km guarantee, keeping at least 80 % capacity after the first three years. As India’s third Porsche EV after the Taycan and Macan Electric, buyers should treat the WLTP numbers as optimistic estimates, verify exact range with their dealer, and keep an eye on the price swings that can follow the launch. Delivery will start immediately after the Mumbai event, with the car slated for sale across major metros later this year.
