Ahmedabad Crime Branch, in coordination with Gujarat Police, detained Parminder Prasad alias Parminder Kaka on Friday night after a sting operation that traced him to a hotel in the city.
Kaka, the alleged primary shooter, opened fire on 29‑year‑old Mad Sandhu on October 3 while the victim was walking to a podcast studio in Amritsar. He also arranged the motorcycle that carried the gunmen to and from the hit.
Investigators say the hit was ordered by the international gang led by gangster Goldy Dhillon, whose criminal network extends across India and abroad. Weapons recovered in the operation include a semi‑automatic rifle and two pistols.
Sandhu, a popular Punjabi influencer with over 200,000 Instagram followers, was known for confronting homophobic trolling and advocating LGBTQ rights. He will face a court hearing next month, where prosecutors will seek a life sentence.
