At a Vijayadashami rally in Ludhiana, Home Minister Amit Shah declared a 2029 deadline to wipe out Punjab’s illicit drug trade, pledging that the Central Bureau of Investigation would take over the investigation into the murder of anti‑drug activist Parwinder Singh Jhota. The CBI takeover aims to expose and prosecute any powerful figures who have shielded the drug mafia, Shah said, stressing that no influence can keep perpetrators out of justice. Earlier that day, Shah met with the grieving families of Bikramjit Singh in Gurdaspur, Gulzar Singh in Sangrur and Jhota in Mansa, promising swift action against those responsible. He reminded listeners that the Modi administration has already dismantled terrorism, eliminated Naxalism and abolished Article 370, framing the drug‑free pledge as the next milestone. Shah urged citizens to report drug trafficking to the Narcotics Control Bureau, adding that if the Punjab government falters, central agencies will step in to enforce the law.
