Ahmedabad Police dismantled a sophisticated bootlegging operation by seizing 2,736 bottles of Indian-Made Foreign Liquor from a flat in the Gujarat Housing Board (GHBC) complex. The contraband, concealed beneath layers of second-hand clothing, was valued at over ₹6.3 lakh, with total seized assets—including three two-wheelers and four mobile devices—exceeding ₹7.7 lakh.
The racket operated by disguising sealed liquor shipments as pre-owned garments sourced from Sanchore, Rajasthan. Suspects Nishit Shah, Jay Pawar, and Kishan Shah coordinated these deliveries through digital logistics platforms, allowing the boxes to bypass border checks and regional transport inspections. Once the parcels reached the GHBC apartment, the contraband was unpacked, sorted, and prepared for local distribution.
Police discovered the stockpile stored across the flat and its outer hallway, ready for dispatch. Interrogations revealed that the illicit consignment was ordered directly from a Rajasthan-based supplier named Omprakash Bishnoi. The network used electric and conventional scooters to execute discrete, door-to-door deliveries to designated buyers, including an individual named Harish Makwana.
Legal proceedings have been initiated under relevant sections of the Gujarat Prohibition Act. Senior officers are currently tracing the digital transport routes and intermediary accounts involved in the supply network while pursuing the fleeing out-of-state supplier.
