Sandeep, who is known under the moniker ‘Kala Jathedi’, emerged from the courtroom at 11 a.m. to take a brief, six‑hour visit to his hometown. The court, citing the family's need for a traditional ceremony, allowed him to attend the naming of his twin girls born three months earlier.
Security forces surrounded Jathedi’s main street and set up checkpoints at key entry points, transforming the village into a makeshift security zone. Police officers, armed and in full gear, kept a close watch on the gangster’s movements as he passed through the village in a convoy.
At the ceremony, Anuradha Jathedi and other relatives performed customary rituals, while flowers covered the living room and the couple’s home was illuminated with lanterns. The couple’s twin daughters were officially named during the proceedings, with family members celebrating amid drumbeats that echoed through the night.
Journalists and media personnel were barred from the area, and a notice was posted on the village’s community board stating that coverage of the event would be restricted by order of the court. Residents reported that the presence of heavy police presence and the use of drums was meant to appease the local populace.
After the ceremony concluded at 5 p.m., Kala Jathedi was escorted back to the police station and remanded into custody, where he will remain until the court schedules a further hearing. The court has indicated that it will continue to oversee his compliance with parole conditions.
