Ramganesh bled out at the district hospital after three neighbors attacked him outside his home in Galouli village. The assault, which ended his 30-year life, stemmed from a dispute over his father, Pannalal. Circle Officer Bhognipur Rajeev Sirohi told PTI that the victim was stabbed multiple times in the stomach before his wife, Rachna, could rush him to medical care.
The motive was superstitious. Satyam Kashyap’s wife claimed Pannalal had used witchcraft to make their daughter sick. When Ramganesh denied the absurd allegation, the three accused—Satyam, his cousin Raghavendra Kashyap, and Radha Kashyap—turned violent. They beat him first, then stabbed him. The brutality shocked the village, but the police moved quickly to secure the area.
Police recovered the knife used in the crime and registered a case following Rachna’s complaint. All three suspects are now in custody. The incident highlights the deadly grip of feudal beliefs in rural Uttar Pradesh, where a single accusation can lead to homicide. The local administration faces pressure to ensure justice is served swiftly for the grieving family.
