The incident unfolded in Behala, a suburb of Kolkata, when a 22‑year‑old man and his father were dragged from a Khudirampally house and forced to march naked for about 50 metres in front of the residence. The pair had been summoned after the girl's uncle, who witnessed the alleged kiss, alerted her father about the affair.
A senior police officer confirmed that the woman’s father and her maternal uncle were among those arrested. The officer said the trio had been detained after the video of the procession circulated online, prompting a swift response from the local police.
The footage, which shows the men in their underwear while a woman’s family shouted threats, has sparked anger across Kolkata. Residents in Behala posted screenshots on social media, calling for a thorough investigation and police accountability.
Police have booked the three suspects and are preparing to file charges under the Prevention of Corruption Act and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act. A court hearing is scheduled for next week, where the accused will face trial.
