The State Election Commission released its Proforma‑V reports on October 25, 2026, showing that 599 municipal ward seats across 46 urban local bodies in Andhra Pradesh were uncontested, allowing the TDP‑led alliance to capture 576 seats—96.16% of the total.
Seven municipalities—Rayachoti, Piduguralla, Tadipatri, Darsi, Dachepalli, Gurazala and Gooty—saw every ward declared uncontested, totaling 220 seats that all went to the ruling coalition. Proddatur, Badvel and Punganur added another 69 uncontested seats, bringing the figure to 289 across the state.
Opposition parties allege that the uncontested outcome stems from systematic intimidation. Rajampet MP P.V. Midhun Reddy recounted an attack on his convoy in Punganur, while YSRCP activists say their nomination papers were snatched in Tirupati and Kadapa. In Kanigiri, a woman candidate begged police to let her file her nomination before the deadline.
The YSR Congress Party has also accused Returning Officers of destroying nomination documents inside government offices. Party sources claim that papers were torn in the chambers of election officials, undermining the integrity of the process. In Chittoor, the party says withdrawal papers were submitted without candidates’ consent, raising doubts over the validity of the results.
In response, the central Election Commission has ordered a probe into the alleged violations, with a preliminary hearing scheduled for November 15. The investigation will examine whether the uncontested seats were the product of legal compliance or coercion.
A local resident of Rayachoti, 48‑year‑old Ramesh Kumar, said he watched his nephew’s nomination slip through the cracks because of the barricades at the polling office. The nephew, a former teacher, now feels his right to run was denied by force.
