Delhi’s Executive Magistrate Court freed Abhijeet Dipke, Ashutosh Ranka and Saurav Das on Sunday after a 24‑hour preventive arrest that began when the trio disembarked from a flight bound for the city, ahead of a planned Jantar Mantar demonstration.
The trio was taken into custody at the Delhi airport on Saturday, days before the first protest scheduled for 10 October, amid a security clampdown that saw more than 7,000 demonstrators and high‑profile opposition figures, including former chief ministers Arvind Kejriwal and Mamata Banerjee, detained.
CJP legal affairs head Ratna Singh hailed the release as a "major legal victory", saying the leaders had been "unlawfully detained" and that the court had imposed a one‑year bond of ₹50,000 to maintain peace.
On X, Dipke condemned Prime Minister Narendra Modi as an "embarrassment to India", while the party's statement warned that October 10 would mark the "beginning of the end of this dictatorship" and that a press conference would be held shortly.
Police said the preventive arrests followed all due legal procedures and that the court had set conditions to prevent breaches of peace, but the CJP expects to resume its protest at Jantar Mantar on Sunday, with more than 30,000 police and paramilitary forces earmarked for deployment.
