The clash erupted as activists marched from Connaught Place toward Jantar Mantar to protest Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar’s call for a re‑review of the Special Intensive Revision of electoral rolls, a move that followed the October 10 demonstrations.
Security forces detained more than 7,000 demonstrators, including students from the SFI, AISA and KYS, and arrested four men linked to the Hindu Raksha Dal for assaulting women and students during the protest.
Delhi Police has filed 20 FIRs covering assault on officers and obstruction of public servants; a court hearing is scheduled for next month to address the charges.
