
Prakash Rajpurohit, a 2010 batch officer of the Rajasthan cadre, ascended to the post of Deputy Election Commissioner on 28 October 2023, a move formalised by a Personnel Ministry order. His tenure, extending to 8 April 2030, follows the departure of Sanjay Kumar after a decade‑long stint.
Vivek Khare, a 1996 batch Indian Telecom Service officer, will now head the National Testing Agency as Joint Secretary. The ACC’s order also names him in this capacity, signalling a push to tighten the agency’s oversight.
The reshuffle saw the approval of 27 civil servants at the joint secretary level. Among them are Ravi Shanakar, Chittaranjan Dash, P Manoj Kumar and Abhishek Bhagotia in the Ministry of Home Affairs; Mohammed Y Safirulla K and Ritu Sharma in Health and Family Welfare; and Varnali Deka, a 2009 IAS officer, as Joint Secretary of the National Health Authority.
Additional appointments include Nikhil Varma as Additional Director General of Foreign Trade, Tanvi Sundriyal as Joint Secretary of Corporate Affairs, and Inderjeet Singh as Joint Secretary of Culture. The list also names executive directors at the Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority and the Food Corporation of India.
The new officials are slated to assume their responsibilities by early November, positioning the Election Commission and associated agencies for the forthcoming general elections. The appointments also signal a broader strategy to infuse fresh leadership across key ministries.
