Northern Railway will resume all Delhi‑bound train services on 11 Oct after a Cockroach Janata Party protest disrupted traffic from 4 a.m. to 2 p.m. on 10 Oct. The decision followed intelligence indicating severe congestion around New Delhi and Hazrat Nizamuddin stations.
The railways cancelled Mail and Express trains scheduled to arrive at the two major stations during the protest window, affecting 12 different services. Mukesh Kumar, Public Relations Officer of the Ratlam Division, said trains 20155 (Dr Ambedkar Nagar–Indore), 09309 (Indore–New Delhi Special) and 12415 (Indore–New Delhi Express) were cancelled, as was the Yuva Express to Delhi.
Two high‑profile trains were rescheduled: the 12951 Rajdhani Express and the 12953 August Kranti Express, both departing from Mumbai Central on 9 Oct, will run five hours late due to operational reasons. Kumar added that passengers with confirmed reservations will receive full refunds.
West Central Railway’s Bhopal division also cancelled train 22221, the Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus–Hazrat Nizamuddin Rajdhani Express, on 9 Oct for operational reasons.
The railways expressed regret for the inconvenience and will monitor traffic around the two stations, issuing further updates as needed.
