Nana Patekar, the 75‑year‑old veteran actor, collapsed at his Goa residence on Thursday morning and died shortly thereafter.
At 2:30 a.m., he texted a friend that he felt unwell; the message went unanswered until the friend called him at about 4 a.m., by which time Patekar was sweating and losing consciousness.
His caretaker was taken to Manipal Hospital, where emergency staff initiated chest compressions for nearly an hour before the patient was pronounced dead at 5:30 a.m.
A police medico‑legal case has been filed and the body is now with the Goa Medical College for post‑mortem. Patekar’s family was absent; he was surrounded by friends at the time of the collapse.
