Delhi Police filed an extradition request for Russian mother Victoria Basu after she fled India with her minor son on March 13, 2023, following a Supreme Court joint custody order.
The petition, lodged by Saikat Basu in 2025, claims Victoria abandoned their 3‑year‑old son and has since sought exclusive custody.
A status report was submitted by the police to Judicial Magistrate Deepakshi Rana, requesting more time to trace the accused via the Ministry of External Affairs and the Indian Embassy in Moscow.
Interpol has issued a Red Corner Notice for Victoria, signalling international cooperation in locating her.
The case remains pending before the Saket District Court, where a verdict on the extradition and custody dispute is expected in the coming weeks.
