The crackdown began on 16 Sep when a Special Staff team seized a Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara in Sector 32, Begumpur, arresting 58‑year‑old Laxman Hooda of Rohtak. In the vehicle police found 300 g of heroin and ₹3 lakh in cash, and noted Hooda’s prior murder case.
A day later, investigators nabbed 51‑year‑old Anil alias Bhola from Sonipat, Haryana, taking 501 g of heroin from his Mahindra XUV700 and adding him to a list of 12 NDPS offenders.
On 4 Oct, police raided a fabrication site in Lucknow’s Sita Colony, arresting 35‑year‑old Bablu of Bareilly. They seized 6.275 kg of freshly made heroin, 2.504 kg of sodium, 787 g of acetic anhydride, and a full set of production gear, exposing a statewide manufacturing hub.
Information supplied by Bablu led to the arrest of Ruksar Ali alias Raju, the alleged owner of the facility, and 38‑year‑old Ajaj Ahmed of Badaun, who handed over 501 g of heroin and a Royal Enfield motorcycle. On 16 Oct, 20‑year‑old Mohammad Azhar of Badaun was taken into custody after police recovered 551 g of heroin, ₹9.81 lakh in cash and a Hyundai Creta.
The final link emerged on 18 Oct in Chatra district, Jharkhand, when Prakash Kumar was arrested for cultivating opium poppy on his land and supplying raw material to the chain. Overall, the operation yielded 8.128 kg of heroin, valued at roughly ₹60 crore, ₹12.81 lakh in cash, 3.291 kg of chemicals, three SUVs, a Royal Enfield and a Hyundai Creta.
Led by Inspector Sandeep Godara under the supervision of ACP Ajmer Singh, the Special Staff team claims the arrests dismantled a cross‑state supply chain that ran from cultivation to distribution. Investigators say further probes into related suspects and trafficking routes are pending.
