At a press conference on Thursday, BJP spokesperson Gaurav Bhatia unfurled a new accusation against Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, claiming the opposition head was entwined with a 'red‑green nexus' of international groups. He pointed to a Fox News Digital probe that mapped connections between protests in France and a network of left‑wing and Islamist organisations that allegedly sought to destabilise democratically elected governments worldwide.
According to the report, 101 organisations—ranging from left‑leaning NGOs to Islamist movements—have allegedly formed an ecosystem aimed at removing elected officials. Bhatia argued that the BJP would investigate these links and hold Rahul accountable for what he called a model of anarchy.
The spokesperson also referenced the Delhi protest on 6 October 2026, when Gandhi was detained by police. He claimed that the video of the detention was shared by Indian Alliance Paris, a France‑based network, and used it to illustrate the alleged international support for opposition agitation.
Bhatia again turned to Progressive International, citing photographs of Sonia and Rahul Gandhi meeting its delegates at 10 Janpath. He questioned why the Congress leaders had engaged with an organisation that, in his view, represented a coalition of leftist and Islamist forces.
Adding to the heat, the BJP leader cited US Congresswoman Ilhan Omar's remarks on Kashmir, accusing Gandhi of associating with voices that he deemed contrary to India's interests. He warned that leaders who cannot love their country do not belong in the Lok Sabha.
While the BJP maintains that protests are a democratic right, it has warned that violence and disorder will not be tolerated. The party has announced plans to launch an inquiry into Rahul Gandhi’s alleged ties to the international network, with a formal review expected in the coming weeks.
