The IMD has warned that eight districts—Dehradun, Haridwar, Tehri, Pauri Garhwal, Almora, Nainital, Champawat, and Udham Singh Nagar—will see moderate to heavy rainfall in the coming four days, accompanied by winds of 30‑40 km/h.
Simultaneously, the department forecast heavy showers in coastal and interior parts of Tamil Nadu and Kerala, while Delhi and parts of Uttar Pradesh are expected to receive lighter, scattered rain.
Beyond the south, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh, and Punjab face thunderstorms, lightning, and strong winds, with rain likely to persist until October 11 in some areas.
At elevations above 4,200 m across Uttarakhand, temporary snowfall is possible, and the IMD has urged local authorities to assist vulnerable communities in remote villages.
With the southwest monsoon retreating from Maharashtra, Chhattisgarh, and Telangana, rural farmers in Andhra Pradesh and Rayalaseema are bracing for potentially water‑logged fields, while authorities in Kerala are mobilising emergency services.
Residents are advised to secure loose structures and stay indoors during peak rainfall; the IMD will provide daily updates until the weather subsides.
