BikeWo GreenTech’s latest move for the logistics market is a bold statement: an MoU with Green Drive Mobility to deploy 5,000 electric trucks across India and commit ₹150 cr in capital.
Green Drive currently manages 350 electric trucks and around 8,000 e‑two‑wheelers, already serving giants like More Retail, DHL and Gati. Their platform is built on real‑time fleet management, predictive maintenance and a growing charging network that spans key industrial corridors.
The partnership gives both firms a competitive edge against players such as Tata e‑Prime, which offers a 500 km range on a 41.5 t payload, and Mahindra e‑Lastmile, known for its 200 km range on a 7.5 t chassis. Policy‑wise, the government’s FAME‑IV scheme still offers a 15% duty waiver on batteries for freight EVs, while the new EV mandate for commercial vehicles pushes operators toward zero‑emission fleets.
For freight operators, the immediate upside is cost‑savings on fuel and lower maintenance. A 5,000‑truck rollout translates to a network of charging points that can be shared across cities, cutting downtime. The joint investment also earmarks funds for software that can integrate run‑time analytics into route planning.
The deal is structured as a multi‑year collaboration, with the first tranche of trucks slated for delivery in late 2024. The remaining fleet will roll out over the next 2‑3 years as infrastructure catches up.
What buyers should keep an eye on next are the pricing models for the trucks, the specific battery chemistry chosen, and how the partnership will handle after‑sales support. As the network expands, the real question will be whether the fleet can maintain a 90% uptime across India’s varied terrains.
