Champalal, a Jaipur entrepreneur, was eating a cheap kachori outside the Nahargarh police station when two men on a scooter snatched a bag of cash from his scooter at approximately 4 pm on Monday. The bag, containing Rs 20 lakh, vanished in mere seconds, leaving the businessman with a loss nearly a thousand times the price of his snack.
The thieves, both wearing helmets, fled the scene before the police could intervene. Champalal chased after them on foot, and several locals joined the pursuit, but the suspects slipped away into the traffic.
The incident was captured on CCTV and has since gone viral on social media, prompting the Nahargarh police to launch an investigation. Officers are combing through the footage to pinpoint the two men and have registered a formal complaint against the perpetrators.
Officers say the case will be forwarded to the special crime branch for further action, and a follow‑up raid is planned for the next 48 hours. The robbery has sparked outrage among nearby vendors, who fear a surge in petty crime if such incidents continue.
