The Election Commission announced on Thursday that the last date for filing claims and objections in Delhi has been pushed back to Nov 25, 2026, from the previous Oct 30 deadline.
Claims and objections will now be disposed of by Dec 15, 2026, and the final electoral roll will be published on Dec 22, 2026.
This move comes a day after the Supreme Court urged the Commission to reconsider the timelines for Delhi and other states.
Alongside Delhi, the Commission also revised SIR timelines for Maharashtra, Haryana, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana and Nagaland, extending their claim disposal dates and final roll releases.
The August 31 draft rolls omitted 47.56 lakh electors; since then 2.75 lakh Form 6 applications seeking inclusion have been filed, including one from Rajesh Kumar of Shalimar, who said he had to wait months to see his name added.
The Commission will review the pending Form 6 applications before finalising the roll, which is slated for publication on Dec 22, 2026.
