Delhi Election Office flagged 33.13 lakh voters for discrepancies in their Special Intensive Revision (SIR) records, according to Chief Electoral Officer Ashok Kumar, during the June‑August door‑to‑door verification.
Among those flagged are former Deputy Prime Minister LK Advani—now 98—his wife Pratibha, daughter‑in‑law Geetika, and son Jayant, as well as former Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia, his wife Seema, and son Meer.
A senior poll officer explained that the notices stem from mismatches between enumeration forms and the 2002 SIR roll, citing logical discrepancies such as name mismatches and missing records. He said verification of facts and documents is underway for all flagged voters.
The notices have stirred debate, with AAP chief Arvind Kejriwal, former minister Kapil Sibal, and Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta also receiving notices, while Gupta’s name was later validated for the Shalimar Bagh constituency.
Voters must submit replies and supporting documents by October 29; the Delhi Election Office will finalize the roll for publication on November 4, closing the SIR process.
