Wednesday night, Barian Kalan in Hoshiarpur turned tense when BJP cadres and BSP workers collided over a protest that had already been underway. The dispute stemmed from accusations that the local Dr. Ambedkar statue had been tampered with. The clash erupted after senior BJP figure Vijay Sampla, a former Union minister, was heckled during the confrontation. He suffered scratches and received first aid at a nearby clinic before being taken to a hospital. BJP Punjab president Kewal Singh Dhillon condemned the vandalism and demanded strict punishment, while AAP's Jasvir Singh Garhi accused the BJP of stirring unrest at the site. Police have filed an FIR for the alleged desecration and are reviewing CCTV footage to identify the perpetrators. Additional officers have been stationed in the village to prevent further disturbances as the investigation proceeds.
