Amroha police arrested four men on Tuesday, including two Central Reserve Police Force jawans and two Uttar Pradesh Police personnel, after a woman alleged she was gang-raped at a farmhouse in Jhulpuri. The victim, who was approached by a woman named Bhavna Chaudhary on September 20, told investigators that she was lured to meet an accused named Mohit in Sonipat on September 21.
The FIR details a harrowing journey from Haryana to Uttar Pradesh. Mohit drove the complainant to Meerut, where Lala Ram Yadav joined them. The group then reached Hasanpur, where UP Police sub-inspector Sanjay Tomar allegedly boarded the vehicle in civilian clothes. They eventually stopped at the Jhulpuri farmhouse, where the complainant alleged that Mohit, Tomar, and Yadav entered her room and assaulted her sequentially.
Police say the victim managed to push out the fourth accused, Pramod, before bolting the door and calling for help. SP Lakhan Singh Yadav, the Superintendent of Police in Amroha, confirmed the arrests and stated that a thorough investigation is underway under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. The case has drawn sharp political fire, with Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav taking to social media to condemn the state’s law and order machinery.
