Three men were arrested in Jamui district on Friday after a viral clip showed them forcibly stopping and harassing a teenage boy and girl on a roadside.
The raid was launched by Jamui SP Bishwajeet Dayal, who said the Special Investigation Team, headed by SDO Deepti Monali, had identified roughly seven perpetrators using the video and is still pursuing the four still at large.
In parallel, the National Commission for Women took suo motu cognisance of the incident and issued a directive to the Bihar DGP for immediate FIR registration and for the identification and arrest of all accused, demanding an Action‑Taken Report within seven days.
Opposition leaders Rahul Gandhi and Tejashwi Yadav condemned the assault, calling it a symptom of deep‑seated patriarchy, and urged stricter enforcement of POCSO provisions.
The case has reignited concerns over women’s safety on public roads in Bihar, with local residents urging the police to intensify patrols and the state government to review road‑side security measures.
