Bhagat and Patel will carry the Indian flag into the Opening Ceremony of the Asian Para Games in Nagoya, Japan, starting October 18. The 6‑time Asian Para Games medalist and the 2‑time silver‑winning table‑tennis star are set to inspire the 70‑strong contingent.
Bhagat’s six medals, including two golds, make him one of India’s most decorated para‑badminton players. Patel, with a silver and bronze from 2018 to 2023, ranks among the country’s top para‑table‑tennis athletes.
PCI president Devendra Jhajharia praised the pair’s resilience and achievements, noting that their journey embodies the spirit of Indian para sport. “They will inspire our athletes as they embark on this campaign,” he said.
Sports Minister Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya will attend the send‑off ceremony on October 8, while Minister of State Raksha Nikhil Khadse will be Guest of Honour.
With the flag‑bearers set, India’s team is poised to chase medals across 10 events from the 18th to the 24th, aiming to build on its growing international success.
