Arvind Kejriwal’s appeal against a ₹25,000 fine was dismissed by the Gujarat High Court division bench on Thursday, confirming the penalty.
The fine followed a single‑judge bench decision that overturned the Central Information Commission’s order directing Gujarat University to provide details of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s degree, naming Kejriwal as a party in the order.
Kejriwal had earlier filed a review petition against the single‑judge ruling, which was dismissed; he then sought the division bench’s intervention, which held the matter for a month before delivering the verdict.
AAP spokesperson Rajesh Nair said the legal challenge was a political stunt and the party will not appeal further until the Supreme Court takes up the matter.
The court’s decision leaves Kejriwal liable for the fine and precludes any further challenge without Supreme Court review, effectively ending the case at the state level.
