The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) released a statement on Friday after ITBP Director General Shatrujeet Singh Kapoor highlighted the newly raised Shaurya commando unit's performance during face‑offs with Chinese PLA troops in Arunachal Pradesh.
MEA said Chinese forces have repeatedly diverged from established patrolling patterns along the 3,488‑km India‑China Line of Actual Control (LAC), disrupting the status quo and jeopardising peace.
The ministry reiterated that both sides will continue to employ existing diplomatic and military mechanisms to defuse misunderstandings, and that it has agreed to discuss ways to improve LAC management in key areas.
MEA’s response to the query was forwarded to the Ministry of Defence, which is expected to issue a formal reply by the end of the week, while border officials prepare to monitor patrol movements more closely.
Border communities in Arunachal Pradesh have reported increased patrol activity, with villagers noting a heightened sense of tension as the two sides reassess their positions.
