Retired Air Marshal Jitendra Mishra has announced a sweeping verification drive for every employee of the Ram Temple in Ayodhya, a move that follows last month's theft of offerings that shook the trust.
The trust will require police clearance, character certificates, and exhaustive family background checks for all staff, from priests to security personnel.
The theft, uncovered in June, saw eight individuals arrested; a 70,000-page chargesheet was filed last week, and the accused remain in custody.
Mishra took over the role last month, replacing former general secretary Champat Rai, while Trust members Anil Mishra and Gopal Rao were relieved of duties.
Trust member Dinendra Das told PTI Videos that the trust's decisions will be accepted by all, and that worship rituals continue smoothly with large crowds.
The verification effort aims to tighten security and improve facilities for devotees, with a trial implementation expected next month.
