Rahul Gandhi, accompanied by Priyanka Gandhi Vadra and other prominent opposition MPs, marched from Parliament's Makar Dwar toward the Election Commission of India headquarters on a Monday, rallying roughly 200 lawmakers to demand the resignation of CEC Gyanesh Kumar.
During the march, Rahul Gandhi scaled a police barricade and raised the tricolour, a symbolic gesture that drew cheers from his supporters and a stern glare from security forces.
Several MPs were detained by the police and escorted to the Parliament police station, while Rahul and Priyanka Gandhi attempted to access the Akashwani Bhawan before officials barred their entry.
Opposition MP Abhishek Banerjee said the protest would not end until the CEC stepped down, warning that any delay would fuel further unrest.
The Election Commission has yet to issue a formal response, but the Delhi Police are preparing to disperse the protestors by 6 PM, according to a spokesperson.
