On 14 September 2026, Shastri Nagar Police Station in Jaipur logged FIR No. 0267/2026 against Nitin Naresh, the editor of Inventiva, over alleged extortion, criminal intimidation and conspiracy.
Naresh, a key figure behind the digital news outlet Nine Network Private Limited, stands accused of demanding money from Terra Invest founders Ankiti Bose and Krishan Rattan while threatening to publish damaging articles.
The filing cites Sections 308(2), 308(3), 351(2), 61(2) and 3(5) of the 2023 Code of Criminal Procedure, framing the case as a formal criminal complaint rather than a private grievance.
Earlier, the Delhi High Court had granted interim relief to Bose in CS(OS) 756/2026, restricting the spread of articles that could impede her legal rights, and to Rattan in CS(OS) 815/2026, preventing Naresh from publishing further defamatory content.
With the FIR now in force, investigators will probe alleged financial demands and threats, and the case may culminate in charges under the extortion and conspiracy statutes, while the court orders remain in effect.
Both parties have the right to present defenses, and the police are expected to file a charge sheet in the coming weeks.
