Mark Cain, 45, was taken into custody after police found Dr Hannah Terry, a GP linked to the royal family, unconscious and unresponsive in the upstairs bedroom of their Dersingham house on October 4.
Ambulance crews arrived around 2:25 am, after a nurse alerted the police, and the doctor was pronounced dead on the scene. A post‑mortem later showed a blunt‑force injury to her right skull and possible neck compression, according to prosecutor Jackie Hanlon.
Terry had been practising at Grimston Medical Centre in King's Lynn and had been part of a pool of doctors providing emergency care to members of the British royal family during visits to the nearby Sandringham Estate.
The medical centre temporarily closed its doors, and colleagues paid tribute to her warm bedside manner. Norfolk Police are offering specialist support to her family, who have requested privacy, while the investigation remains in its early stages.
Cain was remanded in custody and will appear before King's Lynn Crown Court on October 12, where the case will be heard.
